Hornell man killed in Florida bike crash

HOLLY HILL, Fla. — A Hornell man has been killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash in Florida.

According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, one person lost their life when a motorcycle driven by a 54-year-old Hornell resident left the roadway and struck a utility pole. The deceased was later identified as Dave Remchuk.

The incident took place Monday night at about 8:10 p.m. near Flomich and State avenues in the Daytona Beach suburb of Holly Hill.

A police press release on the crash shed little light on the circumstances. The police release said that Remchuk’s 2005 Honda was westbound on Flomich Avenue when it left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a pole, throwing the rider from the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Further information was not immediately available. The fatal crash remains under investigation.
