Florida Motorcyclist injured in crash

A motorcyclist is in critical-but-stable condition after he was injured in a crash early Friday, Gainesville police said.

Police spokesman Ben Tobias wrote in an email that the motorcyclist, Eric V. Ramos, 30, was driving south on Southwest 62nd Boulvard at a “high rate of speed” about 2 a.m. when a Toyota Yaris, driven by Holden Howard, 27, turned left in front of Ramos’ motorcycle. The crash left Ramos with possible brain injury, Tobias wrote.

The crash occurred near 100 SW 62nd Blvd. about 2 a.m., and alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, he said. The road was closed for about two hours after the accident.
