On Sat. Dec.19th I rode up to Clawdaddys to go on the Shits & Giggles run to benefit Nathan Bescher. Nathan is Holly’s son ( Holly works as a bartender at Mickey’s in Crystal River ). Nathan was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy when he was five years old. He is now in need of a motorized wheelchair & a laptop for his occupational therapy, as well as other specialized equipment for his condition. The other stops on the run were Hickory Island, Willards, Thunder Inn, Sandhill, & Mickey’s. All the bars were well prepared for the 62 riders on this run. The run was over 100 miles long. The weather was a little nipply, but it was still a great turnout being so close to Christmas. When we arrived at Mickey’s you could not hardly find a parking place. There was at least 300 people there taking part in this event. There were vendors present, 50/50s, raffles, etc.I have been on a lot of these runs, but this was one of the best planned & put together runs I have attended. Everyone who took part in this event did a hell of a good job. Also, thank you to all of the sponsors who are too many to mention, but you know who you are. This event would not have been as successful without you sponsors. The good news is that Nathan not only received a motorized wheelchair, He got 2 ! How good is that? 200 T-shirts were also donated with Nathans Benefit on the front & all the sponsors on the back. They were sold for $5 each. They were selling fast. Well, Nathan finally showed up & he was so happy I thought he would never stop smiling. This is what bikers do my friends. Thank you to EVERYONE who had a part in this event. You made a child & his mother very happy. To the staff at Mickey’s, thank you for a stand up job. Mickey’s is located on hwy 44 just about 2 blocks east of hwy 19 in Crystal River. Stop by, have a cold one & tell em Charlie W. sent ya. It was a peaceful ride home thinking about Nathan with that never ending smile. Hope you had a great Christmas Nathan. I think I am going to have a whiskey & eggnog when I get home. I might have found a little Christmas spirit after all this year. Happy New Year to you all.
