Deep in the heart of the concrete jungle, right on Union Avenue, Brooklyn, New York is Bob Seeger’s shop, Indian Larry Motorcyles. Every year Bobby throws an annual block party and this year is no exception I rolled in about 12:00 with my buddy Chopper Larry and things were on the move. We wandered into the shop and all kinds of good things were going on. There were three tattoo artists from Immortal Ink laying down some nice work. At that point I had to throw my hat in and get on line to get my annual tat which gave me just enough time to suck up a few beers and grab a couple of burgers. Josh Kohn from Immortal Ink gave me an awesome, wicked looking skull above my Larry question mark last year. As I walked out of the garage there were two of Bobby’s last Indian Larry bikes that he built and showed in the New York International Bike Show at Jacob Javitz Center. I think I got a better shot of them this year. Things were heating up, brothers and sisters were coming in from every direction, the walls of Brooklyn were rocking. There were at least three bands shaking up the place but I have to say that the band Judas Priestess was pretty dam good. The all girl tribute to the metal gods.

I went back into the garage for another cold one and ran into Bambi it is always a pleasure to see her and Paul Cox enjoying the party. Bean’re was hanging out too and I managed to get a picture with him. Also for some fine ink, check out Immortal Ink at 915 Central Avenue, Flemington, NJ 08822 or check out the www.immortalink.com. Special thanks to Bob Seeger and his lovely wife Elisa, Eddie and the Indian Larry Crew - I had an awesome time and I am sure to see you all next year for the 9th Annual Grease Monkey Block Party. Just a quick note let’s show all our support for Aidan, Bobby and Elisas’ son. To get a symbolic support band go to: PayPal to: Bobby@indianlarry.com. NYC Irish

Sticky Fingers Twilight Run 2011 What a fun run. Fingers pulled off a nice ride starting at Dave & Busters in Farmingdale and ended up in Patchogue at the Long Island Music Festival which by the way was also admission to the festival. There were lots of well known musicians hanging out from many bands with lots of cool sounds. WBAB Radio was one of the many sponsors for Fingers on this run. The ride was non stop from Point A to Point B. Kickstands were up about 3:00 and the music festival was at a really nice location at the south shore of Long Island I think there had to be a 1,000 bikes and best part of it all was that the money was going to help in the fight against cancer which is always a great cause. Hey Fingers, good job till the next sticky fingers run. You know you will see me at the Cold Finger run this January 1, 2012. NYC Irish

Bam, another year. It’s hard to believe that Scootergoods has rounded off no. 7. Seems just like yesterday I got a chance to cover a story for Scootergoods and never stopped writing for the best independent magazine out there with a team of real red blooded American bikers. I would like to thank Don V for letting me ramble on about things in the New York area and getting to read about it. At the same time I would like to take this moment to give a shout out to all my fellow Scootergoods brothers and sisters that make the magazine so successful. It is also the 7th Anniversary of our late brother’s untimely demise, Indian Larry but the legacy he left and the path he put us on in the life styles of the biker world was priceless. Bobby Seeger and Elisa have made this possible by keeping his spirit in their hearts and sharing it with all of us. Elisa’s shop at the corner of  Gasoline Alley with the original Indian Larry logo offers tons of great apparel and memorabilia in his name. Not to mention so much more stuff and Bobby with his awesome custom bikes that emulate our late friend Larry’s style and originality. His shop can build you whatever you like from the frame up with an old school style to turn everyone’s head. The 8th Annual Indian Larry Grease Monkey party is Saturday September 24, 2011 at
400 Union Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

Lend a Helping Hand Run: Every year for the last 16 years my bros and I have a run to Pine Lawn National Cemetery to honor our fallen heroes.Hundreds of flags are placed on the plots to show our gratitude to our brothers and sisters that kept us free. Especially, this year we took out the cancer named Osama Bin Laden that was polluting our great land. Well that’s about as much ink as I want to waste on that piece of crap. Well I have been calling this the red eye run only because sign up is between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m. and getting up on a Saturday about 5:00 a.m. means you really want to be there. There was a great turn out about 150 strong and supposedly the Nassau County PD was going to block intersections but they were a no show. So, we did what we do best went outlaw with blockers at every intersection and the run went off without a hitch. Everyone got to the cemetery in one piece and we didn’t stop all the way. Besides clubs that came to support the run we even had a horn player play taps with some comforting words to go with it. We even got Channel 12 a Long Island station to notice us. (That’s a mile stone that only took 16 years to happen). Just like to say forever we stand. "NYC Irish"

June 2011      20th Century Cycles

Today, two of my bros , Chopper Larry and, Chop, came by for a Sunday afternoon ride. We were interested in trying to see if we could find Billy Joel's new shop in Oyster Bay which has recently been opened to the public and let everybody see his collection.  It was warming up to the mid 50's to,the perfect temperature for a sunny Sunday putt.  As we rode we hoped to find the mother lode bounty of almost every era from the 40's to 60's in bike form.  We got to the middle of town and we make a left shot up about 2 lights and hung a right, which was 101 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay, NY, it was practically across the street from the town hall.  There sat 20th Century Cycles and the best thing of all was that it was open.  Well, his shop should have been called, Billy's toys for big boys.  When we walked in there were bikes all over the place, a good 50 or 60 of them.  There were old Honda's, Yamaha's, Ducati's, BMW's, Triumphs, BSA's, Harley's, Moto Guzzi's, a few cool modified vintage Harley's with state of the art 20th Century technology built in and many altered frames and motors from around the 30's to the 60's built in.  Even the bike that OCC built for Billy from the Discovery channel was there.  But my favorite was this 1952 Vincent Black Shadow an awesome bike that was the answer to Britain's rice rocket's of Japan.  The cool things about these bikes and this shop was that a quarter of the bikes had battery tenders hooked up to them to keep the battery juiced so Billy could hop on his favorite scoot and it was ready to role.  How cool is that to get to say I want that one and hop and go.  It's nice to see Billy loves to ride as much as he loves his music.  We didn't get to meet the piano man maybe we will run into him on one of his classic rides on the island.  If you ever have a chance to go to Oyster Bay in Long Island make sure you stop by and check out Billy's Shop.  The address is 20th Century Cycles,101 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay, New York, the phone number is 516-922-3300.  Hey Billy, great shop.  I'm sure any a Scooterhead would be in classic heaven there.  I was!!  Hope to see you next time around.                NYC Irish

NYC Irish: 2011 Cold Finger Run You couldn’t have gotten better weather for January 1, 2011 New Years Day. The sun was shining and the rumbles of bikes were coming in from everywhere. The Long Island Aviation Museum was the starting point in Garden City. I would say that there was at least a couple of hundred bikes that attended the run to support Camp Adventure sponsored by WBAB Radio. We took off with a combination of local police blocking the road and then ended up with state police on the highway. The destination was Mulchaey’s Bar in Centereach, Long Island about Exit 62 on the LIE. The run was for kids that had cancer and don’t really have money to go to camp for the summer. Mulchaey’s was going strong when we arrived and was packed. I wish I could have stayed a lot longer but the sun was going down and so was the temperature. Salt spray from the melting snow and black ice at night, not a good combination. It was a great way to start off the first of the year. We got off easy this year we’ll see what goes next year. Cold fingers you bet but knowing that all the brothers and sisters came out to help the kids gave me a warmer feeling than old man winter.     See you next year. NYC Irish

                                                                                                           December 2010

Today was the day I really looked forward to, its running with the Leathernecks to support our Veterans in the Armed Forces. The day couldn’t have been better. A nice crisp fall day with plenty of sun. We left their clubhouse about noon and headed to the Northshore to the VA Hospital. When we arrived we got to go through the halls and say thank you to those that served our great country. In the main lobby there were some vets hanging out to welcome all of us. Also they announced that the Leathernecks had raised and donated to the hospital about $5,000. After we said our goodbyes we went down to the Leathernecks Clubhouse where there was plenty of good food, music and beer, and of course, the warm hospitality of the Leathernecks. I hope everyone had a great Veterans Day and supported their local vets. I know I did and always will. NYC Irish

NYC IRISH Toys for Tots 30th Anniversary Run Hundreds of loyal family and friends showed up to support the 30 year Independent Bikers Anniversary. This year Forest Park was back in the picture where there was plenty of room for all the bikes. It was a great turnout as usual and I have to say it is always good to see my old friends. Carmine one of the founders of the toy run and my friend Elf who does all the artwork for the shirts have been there from the beginning. The run kicked off at noon and had a huge police escort all the way to Creedo more Hospital where there maining kids from the recently closed hospital off Cross Bay Boulevard were.

The new location for these kids is really nice and they are more like little houses rather than the sterile gray walls of the previous place. The parking lot was Loaded with bikes and the burnouts o were always a sign for the kids that we arrived. I ran into my buddy Roger who has been donating his time to direct traffic for many years and grabbed acold one. After the run there were several participating bars to get some free eats and party with my friends. Well 30 years done, 30 years of fun. Thanks Independent Bikers of Queens. See you for my next Toy Run Patch. P.S. I would like to add Happy Holidays And a safe New Year ahead to all my friends and Scootergoods fans.  NYC Irish

"TO CHOP OR NOT TO CHOP"

What would Larry Do?   Grease Monkey Block Party 2010   Pics and Story By NYC Irish
Indian Larry Grease Monkey Block Party. Tornados and lightening bolts nailed Brooklyn two days ago before Indian Larry’s Block Party and it was looking grim. Trees were getting uprooted and launched. Never got a tornado before and somehow the party got a free pass from the Motorcycle God’s and said let’s get it on. The weather started to clear up and the timing couldn’t be better. It turned out to be a perfect day. Me and my buddy Larry took off from the Island to check it out. Low clouds still lingering in the area but breaking up fast. The walls of Brooklyn rocked again. There were choppers all over the place and of course right on the end the mystery bike sat there, along with a couple other awesome Larry bikes. You could almost imagine Larry, Paul, Bobby, and Keno just pulled up and parked them. We walked towards the door and were instantly greeted by Bobby and he invited us inside the shop to grab a cold one. Bobby had a couple of tattoo artists giving Indian Larry logo tattoos to friends and family, you know I sat down and got one. After me and my friend, Larry both got tats we wandered outside where there were tons of custom bikes all over the place. At the end of the block there was this dude with a chain saw that was just starting to carve out a motorcycle with a figure of Larry on it. All in all it took about 25-30 minutes. It was very cool to watch. Larry had lot of friends from Coney Island with the Freak Show and one close friend happened to be a sword swallower. It was so crazy he took a five or six inch nail and tapped it into his nose and then took another nail with his hammer and tapped it in other nose hole. That was just the start. He had about 5 or 6 swords with him and proceeded to blow our minds by sticking about two and a half feet down his throat. He had one sword that was curved and he actually had to bend his spine to get that sucker in. He mentioned it was Indian Larry’s favorite act and he had to show us. After his sword act this guy comes on as a magician. He took a bag and started to pull out one, two and three handkerchiefs in different colors from the bag. Then he said let’s make this interesting. He wanted someone to think of something that was lots of fun that he could pull out of the bag. Of course I was standing right in front of him and he has to point to me. Thinking I would stump him and tell him something he possibly couldn’t pull out of the bag, I said "women." He looked at me and said, ok and he reaches in the bag and pull’s out this giant bra and totally blew my mind. There were several bands and Brooklyn was rocking. After all that we went back inside to have a few cold ones where we ran into Bambi (Indian Larry’s wife) and got to take some photos with her. There was a club that came all the way from Norway, the colors on the back said "Tribute MC from Hurum". I took some shots of them and they had a center patch and it was Larry’s logo. That’s what you call dedication. They also had some pretty cool Larry tattoos and some fine artwork from their hometown. Also want to mention Steel City choppers and their cool machines. I want to thank Bobby and Elisa for the invite. I had a great time. Also want to thank Bambi for letting me take a picture with her again. I definitely will see all of you again next year. It gets better every year. I also want to thank Johnny Ford for the cool ink he gave me. His website is johnnyfordink.blogspot.com. Also want to mention Mahavatar with Lizzi, vocalist in the band, you guys rock the walls of Brooklyn. NYC Irish

The Queensboro MC 100 Year Anniversary Rodeo & Bike Show. Big Party, the sun finally busted out of the clouds and gave up a nice day. Queensboro was having their 100th Anniversary Rodeo and Bike Show that I didn’t want to miss. I hooked up with a few bros and rode down to Rolling Thunder Bike Shop in Hempstead to sign in and go on their run which ended up at Wantagh Park. We got there and the party was going strong. The parking lot was packed. They had the outhouse pull going on. I don’t know what was more scary the guy pulling the outhouse and wondering if it was gonna stop before it rams him or the guy inside the outhouse. I hope they had some toilet paper in there. Besides all that they had the beer keg toss which was lots of fun not to mention the tug of war between the clubs. Trash MC kicked ass again. Great music, good food, lots of beer. We had a great time. What else can you ask for. Just want to say here’s to 100 years and 100 more! I’ll drink to that. Queensboro also is having their 100th Year World Anniversary Party October 2nd at 3:00 pm till? at Paddy Mcgees Fish House and Bar, 6 Waterview Road, Island Park, NY For more information

Scootergoods Sixth Six years and still going stronger then ever with events, parties, runs, great places to eat with good bands, tons of scooter info for all of us and the best thing of all, the Scootergoods fans and supporters that keep us going. As long as there are parties to go to and beer to pour we will be there and I just hope you all can put up with my crazy New York stories. Happy 6th Scootergoods and I’m proud to be part of the gang.

Just to keep up with my stories it’s also a time to remember the King of Old School this August, Indian Larry, to me one of the most inspiring builders on the planet in his time.  Surely, a motorcycle genius that made bikes you could ride with class. Larry’s bikes were a ground breakers for the motorcycle
industry. You truly are missed by your motor cycle fans

The 15th Lend a Helping Hand Run with I Don't Know.

4:30 a.m. the sun just started to come up and I'm awake but I couldn't think of a better reason for getting up this time of day to honor our fallen brothers and sisters that gave their lives up for us for the freedom we have.  Sign up was between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m.  There was a great turn out this year, way over 100 bikes not to mention ten to fifteen cages came there with their families and friends.  It turned out to be a beautiful ride to Calverton Cemetery with a police escort and things went off like clockwork.  After the run, we went to our local diner and had breakfast.  Then it was time for a ride.  Snake Hill, Cold Spring Harbor then to Sagamore Hill which by the way is the former President Theodore Roosevelt's home.  What a good way to end the ride.  Well hope we all had a safe and happy holiday and remembered our fallen soldiers.

NYC Irish

P.S. Just like to mention the Hog Shop from Tri-County Mall in Levittown has moved across the street to 3114 Hempstead Turnpike, Levittown, NY.  If you want some good scooter goods stuff from apparel to helmets and accessories, stop in and say Hi to Bo.  It's a really cool store and parking up front.  You probably could pick up a copy of Scootergoods too.

June 2010

Genuine Motorworks First Year Anniversary Party. Me and the boys hooked up at my place around 6:30 Friday for a wild ride in the middle of rush hour through the boroughs and into Brooklyn. Genuine Motorworks was having their first year anniversary party right down the road from the one and only Gasoline Alley. We pulled up about sunset and the party was going strong. There were all kinds of street choppers and old school rides outside. First things first, inside of the shop Tara was tossing out beers as fast as you could drink them. In the other room holding down the fort at the shop was Lizza a vocalist for the Mahavatar Band taking care of the Indian Larry apparel. There was a familiar bike in the corner of the shop a Billy Lane creation, an old knucklehead choppers inc special. It was nice to see a little bit of Billy’s work again. Unfortunately, no Larry bikes were around but I understand that Bob Seeger was touring Europe and as I spoke to Elisa, Bobby’s wife she was telling me that he was in Italy with one or some of the bikes. Outside cool fliks were being shown on the wall of the shop by Eddy McGarry, one of Bobby’s ace mechanics at Genuine Motorworks. Fliks were being shown of Coney Island back in the days and some cool clips of grease monkey block parties at Gasoline Alley. Music blasting out of a great PA which made it real nice to hang out. The weather couldn’t have been better and the atmosphere couldn’t be friendlier. Brooklyn for me is one of my favorite places to go especially if I get to hang out with my friends at Genuine Motorworks. I’m looking forward to the Grease Monkey block party on September 18th at 400 Union Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. For more information call 718-609-9184 or check out www.indianlarry.com Hope to see you at the next block party. NYC Irish

I Don't Know MC Turkey Run 2009

Wow hundreds of pounds of turkeys flying in by bike.  I may be wrong but I'd say a good 800 to 900 bikers showed up to help people out for Thanksgiving donating a turkey or money for the run.  Things were perfect for the 12th Annual Turkey Run.  Just the way things should be.  There were lots of rock solid friends to hang with.  Clubs supported I Don't Know seemed to me that this by far was the best turn out  in years past.  Luckily the girls cooked plenty of food with an assortment of Italian dishes and food that you usually cater was all there.  Not to mention tons of pies and pastries for dessert.  After the band was playing there were plenty of trophies to give away.  I think the most impressive one was for the biggest turkey, if I knew how big it was I would tell you but I know a guy named Bubba took the prize with a six foot trophy.    And if you felt like sucking up some suds there was a wet bar with all the beers you wanted to drink and plenty of Jack.  Oh yah, just wanted to mention the bike blessing that happened between the run boy that water burned...  Until the 13th IDK MC Run it would be real cool to see some Florida riders running with us...  P.S.  Just wanted to wish all Skooter Goods fans out there a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Indian Larry Block Party 2009
It was a perfect Sat. for a ride down to Brooklyn for the 6th Annual Indian Larry Block Party. It took place just off rhe BQE a few short blocks from the old Gasoline Alley. Bob Seeger & his wife Elisa had the party in front of their new shop at 400 Union Ave. My friend Mike and I arrived around noon. & things where starting to heat up. The front of the shop had blow ups of Larry & his friend Kid Rock all over the brick walls. There where vendors on 1 side of the street and supporters on the other side, not to mention tons of cool bikes lined the center column of the block and at the end was a bandstand with a couple of cool groups Rockin’ the walls. After hanging out a while and taking it all in Mike and I made our way inside the New Shop where a few of Larry’s Bikes & some memorbilia was displayed. On the walls were 2 cool murals, which made for a nice atmospher. Cold Beer and pretty much what you liked to drink where inside. While we were hanging out in the shop I got to say hello to Larry’s Wife, Bambi and got a shot with her and her girlfriends, Thanks Bambi. The beer flowed, the music blasted & the cool people and far out bikes made a perfect day. Myself and the rest of the Scootergoods Staff want to wish Bobby & Elisa the best of LUCK with the new shop. If you want more information their website is WWW.INDIANLARRY.COM. We will see you again at the 7th Indian Larry block Party. "NYC IRISH"

October 2009 Story 2

Paul Cox Industries

Finally, a perfect riding day. Nice day to go down to Brooklyn but this time I’m going to check out Paul Cox and his new shop. I talked with Don V and he told me if I could get a few shots of Paul and what he is working on with a hot girl he would give him the cover for the Biketoberfest Issue and we could get the word out that he was in town. So that was the plan. I found his shop and when I pulled up I was greeted like an old friend by Paul. Last time I ran into him was at the last Grease Monkey Block Party at Gasoline Alley.

pcox1.jpg (58128 bytes) pcox2.jpg (73347 bytes)

Needless to say, Paul is really nice for letting me interrupt his busy schedule to show me around the shop and what a cool shop it is. Everything you need to build bikes, truly a master’s playground. Paul let me take a few shots of his latest bikes - 2 Dynamite Pan Heads, truly works of art and precision running machines. If I tried to tell you all the good stuff on these bikes I would be writing pages of details. Besides, if anyone has’nt had a chance to see Paul’s bikes they really should be there to appreciate all the work and fine detail he puts in them. While we were talking Paul mentioned that he is not going to make Biketoberfest this year due to a very busy work schedule. Paul also mentioned a show is in the works, The first annual Brooklyn Invitational Motorcycle Show this September 19th. I sure will be writing about that next month for sure. Just want to say thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule Paul and sharing part of your life with

Alliance Life Ride

Alliance Run is to benefit the Bridges of New York Transitional House to help New Yorkers recover from addiction. I just can’t say enough about these dudes. We had a great day, a great ride and a cool party. Live music by Deuces Wild, good food, great brothers and sisters hanging out. They even had a cool bike contest which by the way Don won the show with a cool pan. I bet you can’t guess who he was influenced by. Their party gets bigger every year, from Hooters to Wantagh Park, what a perfect day. If you’re in the Big Apple in August check out their run it’s in Nassau County not from the city. Till next year. September 2009

In memory of Glenn Miller
May 21, 1956 to July 22, 2009

My friend, Glenn a/k/a Zorro was riding his bike in the city when one of them asshole gypsy cabs turned in front of him. All he could do is lock up the brakes and broadside the cab. Glenn ended up in the hospital which he was no stranger to being an EMS ambulance paramedic. Glenn had dislocated shoulders and a broken arm. After two weeks in the hospital he started physical therapy. Everything seemed okay. Suddenly out of the blue he had a turn for the worse. There was an unseen blood clot in his body that made it to his brain and put him in cardiac arrest. Glenn was a native American and loved to ride. If he wasn’t riding horses in his spare time or on vacation trips out West he would be riding his white street glide all over the place. As far as I know, the asswipe that took Glenn’s life is still in jail facing manslaughter charges. Hope he rots there. Glenn leaves a young son, daughter and wife. I’m sure when Glenn showed up in the heavens the heavenly father said, " Wild horses and hot bikes, ride on my brother ride on." You truly will be missed Zorro

Your fellow Scootergoods Staffers share in the Lose of Zorro, Irish and our deepest condolences go out to his
family and friends. "DonV"

AUGUST 2009
Genuine Motorworks: Finally, a perfect day to ride and as usual I’m playing catch up with things to do especially that we are just about to round the 5th year this August that Indian Larry has been gone. So I fired up the bike and headed down to Brooklyn where there is this really cool old skool shop that is run by Elisa and her husband Bobby Seeger, close friends of Larry’s. On the corner of North 14th Street in the heart of the North side of Brooklyn, I especially enjoyed going down there cause I’m an old Brooklyn boy myself. On my waywhile cruising down Gasoline Alley and checking out where the old Indian Larry shop was, It’s all just memories now.But when I got to Genuine Motorworks on the corner and was greeted by Elisa Seeger and their two great kids, I went inside and all those memories of Larry’s shop came back to life to me again. There on the floor were 3 bikes Larry built, Wild Child, Grease Monkey and Daddy-O - it was awesome. On the walls were favorite photos of Larry and Bobby Seeger not to mention all sorts of shots of Larry doing the thing he loved to do, truly this part of the store was a loving memorial. The other half of the shop were all kinds of cool apparel, helmets and even assorted parts you can put on your bike. A little later I got to meet Bobby Seeger and hang out for a while. It was getting late and it was time to putt back out east and try to absorb all I’ve seen. I hear there might be a block party soon when I know you will know. Well, all I could say, is thank you Elisa and Bobby Seeger for being such great hosts. I can’t wait to come back next year to see what’s new. If you would like to check out the store online it’s elisa@indianlarry.com or come down to 195 North 14th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11211 or phone (718) 486-6971. Surely, the legacy of Indian Larry lives on so if any of you motorheads out there are interested in seeing some real old skool bikes and things, check it out. "NYC Irish"

Lend a Helping Hand

Yes, it’s late and Memorial Day is done and gone but I just got toget a shout out to our bravebrothers and sisters thatmade the ultimate sacrifice that gave us the freedom we all have.I also want to mention the awesome turnout that I Don’tKnow MC had at its 14th annual Lend a Helping Hand Run to Pinelawn National Cemetary. With sign up at 6:00 a.m. and kick stands up at 7:00 you know everyone that attended was truly a trooper. Like usual the Boy Scouts of America were planting flags right along with us. The weather was perfect and after the run a few of us went out East for a Saturday afternoon putt. Hopefully, next year we will have double the amount of people and we could plant another 1,000 flags for our Veterans. Well, keep the rubber side down. NYC Irish

June 2009  N.Y. getting shitty

Heads up from New York. To my fellow brothers and sisters on two wheels. Thanks to my brother in the wind Mike Pony Tail and the information from the New York Freedom Riders Press Release. I have this bit of information to share.
New York State Police, local and county police will be conducting motorcyle only safety enforcement checkpoints again this year. The Governor's Traffic Safety Committee has awarded the New York State Police $227,084 for statewide motorcycle enforcement details along with grants given to the Greece PD, Suffolk and Warren Counties. [1]
These motorcycle only checkpoints target a particular group of individuals which has been determined to be unconstitutional. The Supreme Court of the United States of America has repeatedly held that "the citizen who has given no good cause for believing he is engaged in (criminal) activity is entitled to proceed on his way without interference" Bandrinegar, supra; see also Terry v. Ohio, supra.
New York State Police have claimed that with the rise in motorcycle fatalities, these motorcycle only checkpoints are to increase motorcycle safety by insuring compliance with applicable Vehicle and Traffic Laws. We have read The New York State 2009 Highway Safety Plan and the state has determined that the most common contributing factor in police reported motorcyle crashes was "unsafe speed" followed by "failure to yield the right of way". [2] New York's motorcycle only checkpoints are not addressing the two major causes of motorcycle fatalities in our state. The State Police have also said in their press release in 2007 that "Approximately one quarter of all fatally injured motorcycle drivers were unlicensed in 2005." The Highway Safety Plan has addressed the issue of licensed motorcyclists and the extent of the unlicensed motorcyclist problem in New York has not been determined and more research is needed.
The motorcyle only safety enforcement checkpoints are being conducterd at the same time as large motorcycle events. The reason given by law enforcement is they need a sufficient volume of motorcyle traffic to justify the substantial number of resources involved.[3] This includes Americade in Lake George and the Harley Rendezvus in Duanesburg. Last year a motorcycle only checkpoint was done along the Niagara Thruway at the Peace Bridge where 780 motorcylists headed for Canada were stopped.
Law enforcement willl be looking for the following violations at the checkpoints:
Inspection stickers and placement of the sticker
Insurance
375 (35c) - front headlamp not deployed
Rear plate illumination
381(3) lights - only white or yellow
381(4) - approved red reflector in the rear
381(5) - handlebar height
381(6) - unapproved or no helmet
381(10) - rearview mirrors
381(11) - exhaust pipes
402(1a) - plate must be secure and mounted between 12-48 inches on the rear of the vehcile - not at the rear axle
402(1b) - plates must be clean and easily readable
410(1) - registration
411(1) - plates are required to be "conspiculously displayed on the rear" not on the rear axle
411(3) - switched plates
509(2) - license - operating out of class

Jim Barr, of Abate of New York, Long Island Chapter, President had a sit down with the local heat and got them to agree not to stop every bike on the road at assorted check points but every tenth bike. That probably means that if they don't look squeaky clean your no. 10. Well like Janis Joplin said Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose. Boy all I really could say is what a bunch of assholes in Albany, NY. Be careful...and ride safe.

NYC Irish: Leatherneck MC 8th Annual  V.A. Hospital Run The morning was a crisp 40 degrees with a white knuckle run for sure. With chill factor dipping into the 30"s I took of to the Massapeqau Marine Corps League with my friends from the I don’t know MC to sign up for a run to honor Our Veterans at the Northport Veterans Hospital. With my knuckles frozen to the throttle and my bandana over my nose of to Northport we went. It was only a 30 to 40 minute ride but I am sure most of us where where glad to get there. We where in the right place for the Hyperthermia but the hot coffee line did just fine. When we got there theLeatherneck MC presented a $5000.00 check to OUR VETERANS. and it gave us a realwarm feeling. Yes it was a cold as a withces tit wearing a brass bra but to see those old and young Vets faces when we walked in and hung out with them made it worthwhile.   Great Job Leatherneck MC OOORAH!

Next it’s onto the 28th Independent Biker Run: You couldn't ask for better weather, all week they where screaming’ rain and then it turned out to be a picture perfect day. I think Mugger & Tux had a serious talk with the man upstairs and scored a beautiful day for the kids. Everything went off without a hitch. We came out of the Forest Park parking lot like a ball of fire as usual along with the usual police escort right to the Hospital. Of course it would not be much fun without burnouts at the Hospital even the cops seemed to like them. There was to flat beds trailers waiting for a few brothers to burn it to the rim, but there where No Takers. Overall it was a good Turnout over 1000 strong. Like always the kids where waiting in the Auditorium for there spritual brothers and sisters to brighten up their lives for the upcoming Holidays. After the run and the presents for the kids we where off to the usual participating Bars. Fuzzy’s, Clubhouse Bar, on Cross Bay Blvd., the Shamrock Saloon and there where 3 or 4 more. Tux & Mugger may have passed but are not forgotten. The Independent Bikers 28th Toy Run was awesome as as usual. All proceeds went to benefit the Fineson Development Center. If anyone Florida is around here next October be sure to check out the Toy Run by the Independent Bikers. See you next year. NYC Irish.

September 2008
The last issue of Scootergoods was totally dedicated to The 4thAnniversary of Indian Larry’s unfortunate death. It was in memory of the gifted pioneer of Old School bike building that we all grew up with and love to ride. Also Johnny Chop another great builder of Old School Choppers. The other day I made my rounds delivering Scootergoods to local shops and patrons. The final stop was a dealership on Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station. The people that ran the dealership seemed to be up front people. I usaually show up with my 8 yr. old son and put books on the table next to the parts dept. just like I have been doing for 5 months. Usually the kid and I go upstairs to play the pinball machine but it was broke. So I went and bought my kid some winter Harley Gear for school. Walking into the room where I had left the books I noticed they where ALL GONE! I asked one of the Parts Guys where the books where and he told me he took it upon himself TO THROW THEM IN THE TRASH! He also told me that the management HAD BE TRASHING THEM TOO! Well let me tell you, writing is a double edged sword and here is the other edge! First, Mr. Parts man you are as big of an ASSWHOLE as the management you work for. I remember talking to someone in management and they where bragging about how them and Dee Schneider went to dinner after the Baby Love Run. Did you tell Dee you trashed the Scootergoods containing all the good stuff he did and we wrote about. Well I guess he going to find out now, when he reads this! I always try to have an open mind abort things and try to be optimistic too, but getting stabbed in the back by the management of a Motorcycle dealership for putting FREE MAGS devoted to Bikers there really pisses me off. The point is why couldn't you just be man enough to tell me you did not want our mag in your shop. Instead you used you usual tactic of Back Stabbing people instead of being upfront. That is a slap in the face to all the great bikers we write about in our mag. Indian Larry, Johnny Chop, Sucker Punch Sally’s, Dee Schneider and the Baby Love Run for the March of Dime event and countless other BIKER LIFESTYLE EVENTS. Dealing with you is just bad luck for all my friends in Huntington. To my Friends: May trouble never find you, May good luck ride with you, Keep the Rubber Down & and don’t get gravel in your ass.                                          "NYC Irish"

August 2008

THE INSPIRATION BIKE BY DEADWOOD CHOPPERS
Last April at the Northeast Motorcycle Expo I had the goods fortune to run into one of the more creative bike builders in the show,Jack from Deadwood Choppers. I got blown away by 1 of his bikes called Inspiration.

This bike in particular was cool, something I think 99% of the builders out there are striving to achieve. Well Bro’s Jack from Deadwood nailed it.
I talked to Jack and took a few pictures (very mellow dude). His friend Pete also helped with the build and they where very easy to talk too. After getting their card & contacting DonV, & showing him the pics I took needless to say the portrait of Larry on the Tank (Cover) blew him away Jack had Mike Terwilleger do the portait of Larry and on the opposite side is a portrait of Johnny Chop. Thus the name INSPIRATION and you could see it from one end of the bike to the other. I called Jack and told him DonV was very interested and would like to put the gas tank portrait of Larry on the Cover of his 4 year anniversary issue in August. I got to Putt down to middle Island and do a cover story on him and his shop.
When I rolled up there was Inspiration waiting infront of the door. Not only does Jack build them he rides them too. Sitting down and sucking up a few beers with Jack & Pete,Jack told me he has been out of the bike building circle for quite a few years building up his Construction Company. He has just finally had the time and place to fulfill his love of building the many dreams that kept him going all these years. He has built other bikes but right now we will concerntrate on Inspiration.
Frame: Built by Jack on his own Jig.
Paint: Mike Terwillger
Engine: S&S 93 C.I.
Carb: S&S
Trans: Rev Tech 5 Spd.
Seat by Mitch King Leather
Inspiration, a bike from Larry & Johnny from the heavens for sure. Next Month I will let you in on his next project, Until then Jack your a natural. Keep making those dreams happen.

JULY 2008
Dee Snider kicked of his march of dimes run without a hitch. Dee well known for his rock band Twisted Sister did a great job, with an estimated 4000 bikes attending and netting $100,000.00 grand. There where lots of Cool things going on in Long Beach which was the Eye of the Storm with plenty of room for all the bikes to park & party I got Dee to take a shot with my ole lady and kid.The Baby Love Bike was up for raffle, along with some cool shop builds, and a nice Old Flathead War Bike and Lighthouse H-D brought along some of their Trikes. Well the whole deal ended with a nasty downpour with people running for there bikes. The clouds rolled in the Bikes rolled out. Till the next Run "United we Stand" "NYC IRISH"

July 2008
Irish goes to V-FORCE

Finally the Hot Days of Summer. My friend Arson showed up on June 7th at 9am and by 9:30 we hit the road off to Vinny & Cody’s Grand Opening party Upstate, N.Y. in the little town of Rock Tavern. We took the Triboro bridge to the Geogre Washington Bridge and hopped on the Pallisades Interstate. It is such a nice ride and after crossing the bridges of the City it was like getting spit out of a dragons mouth out into the long rolling hills and green forests. Well about 110 miles later we rolled into Rock Tavern and after a few detours found Vinny & Cody’s grand opening. For those of you who don’t know who they are the 2 of them where involved with OCC before. Vinny was Paul Tuttles side kick helping build and wire the bikes, while Cody was taken under the wing of of Sr. I guess they got tired of building for them and went out on their own. Neither one had much time to talk but I did get a couple of Pics. Ted and I ran into Cody right after he got off of his white ricerocket. I think he still thinks he’s still on T.V. Their shop is pretty nice with lots of new machinery they even had a new motorized English Wheel. Vinny and Cody signed autographs for a while then disappeared. It was hot outside but the AC was crankin’ in the office. Well Old man Tuttle and Paulie Jr. where no where to be found. I think the romance is over between them guys. Now the party’s over and them boys need to get crackin’ on their first theme bike for the Tampa Bay Storm Arena Football Team. We are waitin’ to see what you come up with. I got glimpse of the V-Force One deal and there was nothing remarkable about it. The two bikes pictured here belonged to customers and they caught my eye right away. All in all the trip to up state was a great ride and we will follow the so called dynamic duo, x-occ boys. We will keep an eye out to see what they come up with independently. But for now they are in their infancy so the proof will come in the future concerning their building techniques and design ability. The INVERTED V-Frame is a nice start boys, keep it up.Good luck with V-Force Vinny & Cody and remember to BE NICE to your Fans. "NYC Irish"  HEY IRISH DID YOU GET A FREE T-SHIRT ?

I just love when Big Shows like the Northeast Motorcycle expo come around. On April 13th I took off early out to a show at the Suffolk Cty. Comm. College. I was eager to check out all the Hipe and see the latest from some of the nations greatest builders. Big Dog,Billy Lane Dave Perewitz and Jack from Deadwood Choppers ( Above) from right here in Middle Island, N.Y. on Rocky Point Rd. Deadwoods cool, Indian Larry tribute bike was Old School from Fender to Fender. Jack is cool and I am looking forward to seeing more stuff. The FTM Bike was another cool bike I want to talk about. It was called the best of the best. The custom made parts came
from G-Man at Thunderdome Motorcycles. Inspiration for this bike came from Indian Larry, Johnny Chop, Dave Perewitz, Keino, Paul Cox, Matt Hotch, Eddie Trotta and several others. That for sure is the Best of the Best. Some of the sponsors for the build where Sick Boy Choppers and Lighthouse HD. There was cool bikes and Eye Candy all over the place. I also got to finally meet Michelle Smith and the babes from American Thunder. Well till the next Expo, it was fun. I caught a little rain on the way home, but it was worth every drop I got nailed with."NYC Irish"
