2009 JACKASS FLATS
First of all I would like to say that I’m proud to be a part of this
fine Rag and from time to time I will be writing articles to fill you in
on the happenings up here in Ohio.Chicken and I checked out a place we had
heard about in Huber Heights (Dayton, Ohio) called Jackass Flats, an
old barn out in the boondocks that has been converted to a bar. From June
through October they have a bike night on Wednesday nights. When we
arrived the place was packed. We had heard at times there are 400-500
bikes and sure enough there were that night. There were about 20 vendors
and 2 beer tubs set up outside along with a stage and live band. Inside
the old barn was a nice bar and dance hall with plenty of seating. Even
though there were 4 waitress tending bar at each corner, the waiting time
for a $3 beer was over thirty minutes. They have a reputation for killer
food, but the wait for a berger and fries was over an hour. Needless to
say because of the hour ride we probably wont go back, but if you are up
this way you need to check it out! "RED"

Chicken and Red Does SmokeOut
On May 15th I meet Chicken in Rockingham,
NC. to attend the Horse Backstreet Choppers Magazine's 10th
annual SmokeOut. This event was held at the Rockingham Drag Strip.
For those not familiar, the SmokeOut is a true "old school"
chopper fest hosted by Backstreet Chopper Magazine. Several
popular bike builders attend this event, such as Sucker
Punch Sally's, Stevenson Cycle, Brass Bobbers, and Lead Sled,
just to name a few.
This old school biker event features bikes that were built back in
the day when choppers and bobbers emerged on the scene. Some are
old, others new. Most are hard-core, hand built from Norton's
BMW's, Hondas, and Harleys. It's a must to see if you enjoy the
history of Choppers and Bobbers. NO STORE BOUGHT CHOPPERS HERE!
The event had many vendors. Chicken ran into his buddy Ice
Cream Man from Hell, who had a booth set up. There
were bands, and other entertainment. Drag
racing was permitted on the track and when night fell, the 200
acre campground became a huge party.
