| Mike’s Pub Ride In Bike Show March 20th Well, it was time once again for Mike’s Bike Show, sponsored by Mike "the troll" and Mike’s Friendly Pub. The party started at 1pm, and people were coming in from everywhere. Chapdawg and I arrived early, and of course Chapdawg had to check out the vendors where he purchased a used set of saddle bags for his ride. The band, called Local Traffic, from Gainsville were pumping out some good jams, and Brian sold completely out of food, so you know how good the food was. There were lots of people present that I had not seen in quite a while. The bike show included 12 classes including European & Asian. Everyone entered in the bike show recieved two free drinks with their entry fee, and it was funny how everyone that entered the bike show recieved a reward in the form of a framed statement stating what they had won. The following people were winners in their catagory; 1st place for Asian went to Bobby J., with second place in the same catagory going to Randy Spinks. In 1st place for the European class, Jack Krell was the winner. For the Trike, George & Judy Wienchek took 1st place, with Mike Prior taking second. In the Dresser division, Fat Daddy Paul took 1st place, with Smitty coming in second. In the Antique division, Chicken man was 1st. In the Sportster division, John Piescienske came in 1st. For the Shovels, Rick Delemeester came in 1st, with Tramp coming in second. For the Chopper division, Wayne Hicks won 1st place, with Jim Garvin coming in second. In the Rat division, Mad Max came in 1st with Bill O’neal right behind him. For the Custom American division, there was a three way tie with Bones, Luis Santiago, and Bill Graver. Second place was also tied with Bill DuBois, Pam Schultz, Mike Burke, Jeff Percell, John Clark, and Muck. The Best of show went to Harley Suit for his fine looking knucklehead. Everyone that entered had a fine ride, and a fine time while they were there. The Scootergoods staff was also there for the event. Everyone had a great time, and we all look forward to the next bike show. Cat’s Biker Babes was there doing the bikini bike wash, and they are also available for photo shoots. All you need to do is see Free Wheelin Franklin about it. The staff at Mike’s did a great job, with Cindy on the outside bar, and Pam and Mary on the inside. Pam Schultz was also running around selling jello shots, so you can see everything was covered for this event. Mike’s Friendly Pub is located just south of Homosassa on the west side of hwy 19, next to Sunny Days Plaza. Stop in and tell them Charlie W. sent ya. Catch up on whats going on, and have a cold one. The staff at Mike’s Friendly Pub did a great job, and so did anyone involved with the event, so let them know how much you enjoyed it when you stop in. It was such a nice day, and the event was a success, so I headed home with a smile and the wind in my face, just waiting to hit the old recliner. Til next time............. March 2011 Chapdog Ape Hangers Real or Fad ? Ape Hangers, Banana Seats, Wheelie Bars on a Schwinn
bicycle my brother on a 305 Honda Dream Bagger in about 1961-1963 in Key
West, FL.Lately I have seen a rise in people’s selection of bikes, no
matter what make, model or year Ape Hangers are there! Where did that come
from? This is old school for older and more mature bikers that really
understand, build and ride these bikes. I have had Ape Hangers since the
late 50’s, early 60’s. Where did that store bought shit come from?
Some people can buy COOL but real bikers don’t have to… they create
COOL. That is my thoughts on the subject. What do you think? Let us
Scooter heads know Ridetillyarot ! CHAP-DAW PS. God Bless Our Troops |

Saturday
morning December 18th it was wet and dreary outside, but it was the day 16
families and over 25 children had been waiting for. This was the day
Mike's Friendly Pub treated these families and their children to presents
and a Christmas
dinner. By the time the event took place the weather was great. The
sky was blue and no rain was in sight. Santa arrived with Mrs. Clause, and
the festivities began. Each child walked up the steps to see Santa and
what he had for them. The smiles on the children's faces said it all. Even
the looks on the parents faces told you they were both happy and thankful.
Mike's has been taking care of as many families as they can each year at Christmas
by presenting the children with presents and the families with a Christmas
dinner. This year Mom or Dad received a present as well. This is my
favorite thing to do each Christmas because you get to see the expressions
on the children's faces when they receive their gifts. There were a lot of
elves there this year too. Each one was doing his or her part to make sure
the event ran smooth. Everyone was happy and all the gifts were gone in no
time at all. Kids were eating and having their faces painted, or were just
playing having a good time. Brian cooked up some hot dogs for the kids,
which was a good idea, but they sure did not last long. If you have not
witnessed this event, then you need to make sure you put this on your list
of things to do next Christmas. Mike's will accept donations towards this
event any time of the year. Everyone who had a part in this event did a
great job, and made a lot of families happy this Christmas. Stop in at
Mike's Friendly Pub when you are in the area and have a cold one, check
out the upcoming events, and relax a little. The staff at Mike's will make
sure you are taken care of. With good thoughts in my head I headed on up
to the Loft for the end of the run for Capt. Jim. I could still see the happy
faces of all the kids. Til next
time..................................................................

On Sunday Nov. 7th, Chapdawg
and I rode up to the Mousetrap Saloon to meet with everyone for a Memorial
run for "Lil’ Joe" Golden. Joe was a marine and a good friend
to a lot of people in the biker community. He was called "Lil’
Joe" because he was a short little guy, but he had a heart twice his
size. We started out the ride and headed to the other scheduled stops that
included The Loft, Castaways, Jim’s Club 19, Manatee Pub, and ended at
Mike’s Friendly Pub.
There was quite a good crowd of "Lil
Joe’s" friends on the ride. I did not get an accurate count, but
there was at least 40 or 50 of Joe’s friends there. All of the bars took
good care of us, and we were really hungry by the time we hit Mike’s.
The food was excellent. Chapdawg took the jug for donations around and
made people pull money out of their pockets for the childrens Christmas
fund. The money raised in "Lil Joe’s" name went to the
Christmas fund for the children. This event will take place this month.
Chapdawg brought a Marine Flag for everyone to sign their names on. The
flag can be seen at Mike’s Friendly Pub. If you would like a patch in
memory of "Lil Joe" Golden, then stop at Mike’s and you can
order a patch there. Joe was a good freind of mine, and I, along with many
others will miss him very much. I want to thank him for his service, and
for giving me the right to live free. I want to thank all of my brothers
and sisters who have served, or are serving in the armed forces for my
right to live free. Mike’s Friendly Pub is located just south of
Homosassa on the west side of hyw. 19, next to Sunny Days Plaza. Stop in
and have a cold one, visit with the good folks that go there, and tell
them Charlie W. sent ya (That probably won’t do any good). I want to
thank the folks that put this run together, and everyone that had a part
in the run. This was a sad event, but we also raised money for the
children at Christmas. Well, I lost Chapdawg again, but I had to find my
recliner, so down the road I went. |
